Holly has so far pooed 9 times today and she's only been up since 7am !! Is this normal?? She ate all of her meals yesterday and polished off several dog biscuits that she was given for being a good clean girl.
Holly gets a treat every time she performs in the garden (a cat treat/small piece of liver/a small biscuit or a cuddle.) Is she now pooing so much in an effort to be rewarded or is she not that not clever??

Seem to remember that Holly is a puppy in which case 9 poos are not so unusual, especialy if you get a treat for it. More to the point are they nice normal well behaved poos, if so don't worry. Could try just voice praise, no treats, and stop the liver as that can cause loose stools. JH

Sorry to butt in on a serious topic. Can not stop laughing JH. at your
coment on well behaved poo. It is playing havoc with my imagination
I can see them in top hat and tails dancing round the lawn.
Fiona you are so kind to post on this subject, may I remind you that it is lunchtime and I'm in the middle of eating a chocolate mousse desert :D
I guess it depends on when she last went to the toilet. What go's in must come out and if she ate her meals yesterday along with several biscuits and didn't go to the loo then I wouldn't be surprised she has gone has often as she has today. Also the more you feed her and depending on how much fibre is in her food/treats would determine how often she goes to the loo. As long as her motions are normal I wouldn't worry about it. As for her performing more so that she can get a treat well who know's what the little b***ers of capable of ;-) But I wouldn't have thought that was the reason behind it.
Now I think I might just skip my desert :P

I'm always amazed that with puppies, more seems to come out the back end than went in the front end, and they still grow!

It amazes me too !
Hudson is now 14 weeks old and is on 3 meals a day ...he still manages to poo 5 or 6 times a day AND puts on weight .

If the food has a high fibre content then more will come out the other end. The food I feed has something like 2.3% fibre whereas for example Chappie complete has something like 4 or 5%. I know dogs fed on Chappie and they do go to the toilet more than mine.
Gary2 will know more about this :-)

I know how you feel - Tilly, who is now 14 weeks old poos quite a lot too! She has a special place in the living room where she creeps off to given half a chance. We seem to be winning the battle of the wees, although even there she isn't too reliable. She does go outside, but then she goes inside as well!
Take heart that there are others going through the same thing - and WE WILL GET THERE IN THE END!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad I am not the only one - not only does my 11 week puppy G.B.G.V. poo for Britain she also wees as well. I spend most of my day up and down to the french doors to let her out - keeps me fit I suppose.
She is also growing at a massive rate.

Holly seems to have settled down today. After a morning of pooing for England she started with diahrrea (really must learn how to spell that word :D) but seems to be back to her normal self again.
Long may it last - the neighbours thought I was mad constantly out in the garden saying 'Who's a good Holly dog to do a poo' and 'What a good poo'.
