Does anyone know how long it should be before you can fly after surgery, as most of you know i had back surgery on the 14th jan (which is only 2wks on wed) as we are moving to spain i am the only one who is being left behind because of the risk with a blood clot, i am moving into my parents on the 6th feb and hubby etc are going to the spanish house :(
can anyone shed any light on this or has anyone flown after surgery???

My daughter had surgery on her spinal cord and we flew out 6 weeks later, the consultant said as long as you do the same as you would anyway to avoid DVT then she would be fine. (This was at the 3 week check after the op to make sure everything was healing well)
I would definitely ask your consultant or phone his secretary up to find out though.

I would have thought that your surgeon would be the best person to ask :)

Phone the dr's secretary up and explain the situation as i'm sure they will be as helpful as they can.(Just say you need to book a flight or something lol)
You may feel well enough you see but your insides may not have healed ! :)

In your situation i can understand, and my daughters op date came out the blue so we had already booked our flights.
It all depends on the operation you had!
Good luck anyway.
