Hi guys,
Still got the biting problem with my puppy but am trying to cope and stick with your advice. Now it seems she loves to eat newspaper. Obviously i try and get this off her but it then appears to be a great game of tug! I'm just a bit concerned that she's eating too much of it - will it just pass out through the other end?? I read on this site about giving her a carrot and i have to say she has great fun with this even if my kitchen is taking on an orange glow!! How many carrots should i allow her or does it not matter??
Thanks

nellie used to eat chunks of the argos catalogues! she grew out of it!
stuffed kongs are the way to go in my opinion, they keep my lot happy for ages!

what do u put in your kong ive tried allsorts but he manages them in two minutes
ive tried biscuits , chews , cheese spread , bonio biscuits two wedged in together

Mixture of biscuits, "shapes " are good cos they are funny sizes & cheese which u can squish in tight!

I buy a big bag on Benningtons 'moist food' for stuffing kongs - it's fairly chewy and when it dries out it's like watching a dane eating chewing gum ;)

Newspaper won't hurt; one carrot a day should be sufficient, they are very sugary :D

Hello Sal has about 2 carrots a week, but I am not sure if she eats them or just shreds them all over the kitchen floor :)

hi :)
for the kong i read here recently to use gravy and then freeze it. my BC can do kongs no probs too so i try and do really mad fillings to last a bit longer lol the one in the freezer now has carrot sticks in all wedged under the rim, philadelphia cheese in the little bottom section (the tiny hole end just to tease him lol) and a dog biscuit wedged in the middle to hold it all still. then i made some gravy, poured it in (and keep squeezing the kong whilst pouring the gravy so it gets down all the little gaps), added a bit of melted cheese to make the gravy tasty and put it in the freezer last night and ill give it him tonight. usually takes him about half an hr but is worth it for the peace during corrie street ;)
hope this might help you,

Thanks again everyone! My gravy wouldn't need freezing- its lumpy enough! She loves her kong filled with stuff but boy is she good at getting it all out. Had her in the garden in the snow this morning she went beserk, jumping around like a spring lamb she thinks it tastes good too apparently -must remind her not to eat yellow snow tho!!!!

Hi
My brother stuffs his kongs with bits of biscuit, ham and cheese. He then zaps them in the microwave. The cheese melts and then when cold sets to the shape of the kong. It takes Dylan (GSP) quite a while to get it all out :D

Is this me being stupid but the Kong's I have have holes in so the gravy would run out on the way to the freezer.
Plug the tiny hole first, or wrap cling film around, and stand upright in the freezer until frozen! ;)

exactly the way i do it jacqui i always put small amount of philadelphia at the bottom and this kind of plugs it up the gravy just runs into all the gaps of the kong and seals the top

Hi folks, any ideas for a 6month old lab with a very sensitive tummy? Tried cheese and ham he can't have more than 1 biscuit or he has the shi*s for 2 days. he loves his cong but am really struggling for ideas. Gravy would really make him bad i think it's a salt thing myself.

I have Min an oldie Lab who has colitis.
I let her have a carrot or an apple a day.
As a treat a chewie is allowed probably once a week which will produce a sloppy poo but it is weighing up the enjoyment she gets from them to the type of poo she produces.:)

forgot to add fill the kong with her normal food as that won't upset her tum. Make sure your reduce the amount she gets at meal times to compensate !!
