- By rowley-conwy [gb] Date 17.11.03 20:41 UTC
i am interested in breeding my dalmatian bitch with a stud somewhere in north-west england or wales. She will be coming into season sometime around march 2004. She is 5 years old, has good hearing and is very beautiful! She is not very big though.

Hi,
I gather your bitch has a clear BAER certificate. Have you contacted her breeder for advice on whether she is suitable for breeding from (most aren't!), and if so, which lines would best complement hers?(Usually the most suitable stud is at least 200 miles away!)

You are welcome to email me privately (click on my name for the address) if you want to discuss it further.
:)

Hi its to bad you live so far away I have a male Dal he is in my opinion perfect and would make a great daddy I dont breed Dal's I have been breeding labs,a young girl had moved out of her parents house and always wanted a Dalmation but her parents wouldnt have it,I guess they knew something she didnt cause she baught him a six weeks old from a good breeder and decided that she couldnt properly take care of him and I spoke to her about him and she said she wanted to sell him,and the next day she showed up on my door step with him asking me if I could take him and give him a good home and we did,he's wonderful.I have never owned a Dal before or knew much about them, but we love our Tyson.

Hi Daina,
I'm glad to hear you love your dal, but he can't have been <<bought at 6 weeks old from a good breeder>>. A good breeder wouldn't sell one at 6 weeks ...

Almoast all the breeders arround here sell between 6 and 8 weeks mine go between 7 and 8 weeks, all of them leave with thier 1st shots, health cert, pet insurance and a puppy starter kit.
My femals have NEVER even seen a kennel and are my babies and I dont think Iam a bed breeder cause I let my pups go at 7 or 8 weeks.

Hi Daina - there is an enormous difference between selling a pup at 6 weeks, and keeping it that extra week or two and letting it go at about 8 weeks. In dals, 6 weeks is simply too young.

"he is in my opinion perfect and would make a great daddy" - even to puppies whose mother you know nothing about? I dont like the way the original post has been hauled out from over 2 months ago - smacks of advertising potential stud to me.

Yes thats right I do the he would be a good daddy, but as you can see my other post Iam not a Dalmation breeder and dont claim to be,that was my OPINION only. I havent claimed to know all thier is to know and Iam sure you dont either.
I never once said he would be good for her girl did I?
Just saying that hes a nice Dalmation.

Sorry, but you pulled this post out from a while ago, said that it is a pity the bitch lives so far away and your dog would make a good daddy. What are we to think other than you would like him to be used on this bitch? You could have posted a new topic to tell us how much you love your boy.
