Hi! ive seen lots of lab lovers on this site, i love them too & there are loads around my area[rural exmoor]
BUT when they meet my collies & have a play WHY do a vast amount seem to try to sit on them! it seems that they want to stop the collies getting away! its in no way aggresssive just abit strange! is this a common lab thing to do? or maybe its just the water down this way!!!!!

ha ha I have never seen my lab do that. He just bounds around like a nutter wanting the other dogs to chase him. Must be the water..

Thats how it starts! then if my dog bows down they just plonk their bums on him! not in a sexual way!!!!! my dog is usually fairly dominate but not nasty. its strange! its happened with 3 different labs now, all black.

Hi folks, my 6month old yellow lab just follows every dog trying to lick their bottoms. this is quite embarrasing as he doesn't play just becomes a pest until they end up pinning him down to the ground to get some peace. he still eats all the poo he can find. I hoped he would grow out of this habit but i'm not holding my breath.....
Hi guys,
I have to admit that my Kester (9 month old BLACK lab) does the 'sitting on' thing. He'll walk up to another dog and about 3-4 foot away from them, he'll turn around and then reverse until he can dit on them!..They don't even have to be awake when he does it!. I came in to our dining room the other day and he was sitting on Isla's head, and she was still asleep!. He does it to other dogs as well, mostly when he wants them to play with him, which seems to be 100 % of the time he's awake.
Strange....

Hi all
Yep my Black Lab Buffy does the sitting thing, she is only 9 weeks old and has only played with one other pup but she was more interested in sitting on his head.
Also if the kids are laying on the floor she will sit on their heads too.

I knew it!!!! i will tell the lab owners around here they arent alone!!!!

Not just Labradors. Although maybe they are just trying to get there bums warm. My eldest Davy (Greyhound cross Rhodesian Ridge Back) used to get sat on my a very large and ooverly dominate GSD when he was smaller. It was quite funny (except for Davy I suppose). Bu beware now he is bigger has a vendeta against all GSD. He gets them to chase him, which they invariably do but not being as agile as him gets them either to run into things by turing quickly, (would make a great courser) or just keeps at them until they are almost dying of exhuastions and then sits on them. Usually do his best impression of a grin!
