Hi i have a 6 month old westie, who is fantastic,
I was just wanting to know when he will stop growing.
He seems quite small, I am not bothered how big or small he is, but
i was just woundering

The standard says approx 11in at the withers - top of shoulders.
Having said that have recently seen two pups, suposed to have been from the same litter, who were so different in size you would think they were a different breed. The bitch being half the size of her suposed brother and I would have thought very small for her bred.

Just out of interest Jackie, were those Westies from a reputable breeder or just someone having a litter to the dog down the road??? I have found that if the breeder has knowledge of the breed, and are breeding to the breed standard, the litter tend to be even and typy. If it's a pet bitch and the owner has no knowledge of the ancestors behind the dam or sire, then the pups can be almost anything, and the only thing that they have in common is that they're white!! :(

I understand, but don't know for sure, they were from a kennel that deals in at least a half-dozen breeds, sad to say I do not think that size was the only problem.

Oh dear, doesn't bode well does it? I feel so sorry for the new owners who buy from these people. :(
