Hi all
Buffy (9 week old lab) had her first jab today, she was also wormed again. She has been fine since but in the last 10mins she has got really running poo, she has been 4 times each time becoming more like water, now it is just clear fluid coming out. It is defenatly not wee (i watched her and made sure).
Is this normal after jabs? She had the jab at 5pm this evening. She seems well apart from this, and she is drinking plenty of water.

Thanks Debbie N

Hi Debbie, cant really give you any sound advice, personally before it gets any later if it was me i would ring the vet.
My girl went for her 2nd jab tonight and microchipping she seems ok and when she had her first jab was ok too,
regards sam

I've tryed to phone the vet, cant get through. She is asleep now, not running a temp and seems well in every other way. Hasnt been to the toilet in about 10-15 mins.
My husband thinks that we should just watch her over night and if anything gets worse take her straight to the emergency vet if she stays the same or gets better just take her for a check in the morning.

Would you agree?

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

I'm sorry to hear about your worry with Buffy. I hope all goes well. I do have concerns about worming tablets as my Labrador was very ill following worming with Drontal. She also had no temperature but liquid poo (with blood eventually) but was obviously in a lot of pain with her tum. She was a year old when this happened (September) and worried me so much for a whole week but came through it and was 100% after the vets expert care. Try not to worry but do get Buffy checked out if you are still worried. I think Buffy will be fine but best be on the safe side. (I know I'm extra sensitive on this subject of worming but as you can see, I have good reason). (My thanks to Christine and others for the very helpful info on alternative worming tablets. So very grateful to you).

Good luck Debbie and try not to worry too much at the moment,
Best wishes,
Val :-)
Ps Incidentally, interestingly my vet has now switched to an alternative worming tablet ! I've forgotten the name now but its the one mentioned on this board in various messages - Panacur?). My daughter now has a Labrador puppy and the vet gave them Panacur? (sorry if the name is wrong!), and was told that they were using this now due to some dogs being upset by Drontal. My daughter of course has plenty to say about that, having seen what happened to Poppy. Bet said Panacur is a lot more gentle for them.I'm still very nervous about the whole thing.

Hi
I was a bit concerned about the vet worming her again anyway, i had wormed her 2 weeks ago with i think the same one you mention to be good. It was a white paste, it was the one the breeder used. She was fine with this.

The one the vet used was a pink liquid and he gave her an awfull lot.

She is fine today and has been pooing normally but she is a bit off her food and has only eaten breakfast and a little bit of her dinner.

Thanks for the reply

Debbie

Hello again Debbie,

I'm so pleased you've seen an improvement and I hope today has been an even better day and she has a better appetite. Maybe her tum is feeling sore though so it may take a little while for everything to settle down. Hope it all goes well.

Take care,
Best wishes,
Val :-)
