- By jackyjat [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:21 UTC
Does anyone remember a series with Wendy Craig, before Butterflies, when there were a lot of children in the house, I believe some of them were fostered?

And who was the guy who used to do that funny thing in the shop window in the opening titles that made him look like he was lifting both feet off the ground?  Must have been late 60's early 70's but he did make me laugh!
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:29 UTC
1. Not in front of the children ...

2. And Mother makes threee

3. And Mother makes five

;)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:37 UTC
I remember the show with the chap and the shop window ..didn't like it much ..wasn't his name Harry someone?? He wore a pork pie hat and thick glasses
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:40 UTC
It was Harry Worth doing the shop-window trick. I think all children of that generation imitated him!
:)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:41 UTC
Yup ..thats him ..never found him funny but the 'rents did  :D
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 26.01.04 21:04 UTC
I think that was the Clangers that lived on the moon. The Moomins were the blobby Scandinavian things with annoying commentary.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 25.01.04 10:07 UTC
Ooh yes, Flambards! Loved it - horses, biplanes, romance - wonderful! And a chap I knew (I wonder what happened to him?) said I looked like the girl in it. I don't think he was right, but there are worse people to resemble.
:)

;)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:44 UTC
I loved White Horses, but the Singing Ringing Tree (what was the other from the same 'stable'?) gave me the creeps! There was Captain Zeppos -  a sort of children's spy series, Champion the Wonder Horse, Belle and Sebastian ...
:)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 25.01.04 08:46 UTC
Oh, and can you still hum the signature tune for "Robinson Crusoe"?
:)

Have just found the MP3 of White Horses on the TV Cream website :D  Hubby heard it and confessed to having had the record, but denies he ever watched the programme!  Bet he did, bet he ran round the living room pretending he was on one of the horses just like the rest of us did :D

Lesley what have you done with the MP3 of White Horses as the TV Cream website says "Bad luck - not found"!?!  I want to reminisce too, I loved that programme.  My friend loved Black Beauty as the horse that shared a field with hers was used in the filming.

I also remember being taken with school to see Arthur of the Britons being filmed locally with Oliver Tobias shortly followed by a few scenes of Poldark in another local town and something called "A Child of the Forest" with a few famous people I can't recall.
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 25.01.04 10:06 UTC
I've just found White Horses theme tune and the bit of blurb next to it has reminded me that I think it's because of that programme that I changed the spelling of my name from Jackie to Jacky as there were three of us in the class and it helped to differentiate!  What a fantastic website Melodysk!  I love the way it describes the themetune from Crown Court as the 'soundtrack to a million childhood illnesses'!!  How right that is.  My kids don't believe me when I tell them we didn't used to get telly during the day apart from Woodentops and News at lunchtime.  I remember the launch of Breakfast TV the week my daughter was born.

Its fascinating how just a few lines of music can evoke such strong memories, oooh I feel quite wistful!
- By digger [gb] Date 25.01.04 12:14 UTC
Speaking of childhood illnesses - does anyone remember Houseparty?  About half  a dozen women with different skills (fashion, cookery, housekeeping etc) getting together around a table set with tea and cakes - they'd go off with a friend and tell the friend all about the new thing they'd discovered/learnt that week.......  I used to love watching it with my Mum when I was off ill as it made me feel grown up t be sharing her progs with her :)
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 25.01.04 13:49 UTC
Yes I remember that!  They shared knitting patterns, jam making tips, etc!

Can you just imagine that coming back now??!!  What would they talk about?
- By Donnax [gb] Date 25.01.04 16:00 UTC
I loved Laverne % shirley
and wait till your father gets home

:)

Donna and charliex
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 25.01.04 17:17 UTC

- By Joe [gb] Date 25.01.04 18:36 UTC
De de de, dur dur dur hossenpeppercorporated
- By jackyjat [gb] Date 25.01.04 20:04 UTC
Mmmm thanks for that Joe.  It was a bit of a silly question on a written forum really.  Not sure I quite got the hang of the tune there!
- By Joe [gb] Date 25.01.04 20:08 UTC
It helps if you skip as you sing :)
- By Lindsay Date 26.01.04 23:27 UTC
Oh what great memories :)

I loved White Horses (wasn't Boris beautiful?), Champion the Wonder HOrse, Black Beauty, Arthur of the Britons, Follyfoot (bit depressing but horsey!) and lots of the others mentioned.

The Singing Ringing Tree - I can just about remember that....it was magical :)  Can anyone remind me what it was about? I seem to recall a hairy bear, a little evil dwarf and a princess. She had to get the tree to sing, is that right?
