Dear Sir/Madam

I am currently living in Singapore and for some reason unbeknown to myself I seem to have collected a small zoo. I currently have one two cats, one Jack Russell, one Golden Retriever and a Miniature Pinscher. The three dogs mostly get on well with one another and with the exception of the Jack Russell the cats and dogs tolerate one another.

The Miniature Female is appx four years old, I found her via an advertisement while looking for another dog that escaped. She was tied to a chair because the children of the house were scared of her!!. She has always had a nervous disposition and would release a few droplets of urine when excited or being punished. My wife and I recently moved house and since the move the Minnie's toilet habits have dramatically deteriorated. At night we put the two smaller dogs into their own cages, and since the move the Minnie urinates on her blanket nightly. She regularly urinates in the house on average 3/4 times a day even when the door is open, sometimes even after having been outside all day once she is let in the house she will urinate inside. Believe it or not she has even started cocking her dog like a male when out on walks.

I really do not understand this dramatic change in behaviour because as I said prior to moving her if she did urinate inside it was mostly as a result of overexcitement or punishment. Though I would say that this increased once the Golden Retriever showed up. The other two dogs seem to have adjusted to the new house with out any problems what so ever.

The vet has told us that she has an infection in her Urethra but the medication has no made any difference , my wife is at the end of her tether , I have no desire to re-house the dog and frankly even if we did I doubt that the problem would go away.

I would greatly appreciate any advice that you can offer.

Best regards

The first thing I would suggest is a trip to the vet to eliminate the possibility of a urinary tract infection, as this can often cause uncontrolled weeing.
