My sister recently bought her first dobe puppy, and is interested in showing her.  She has been taking her to ring craft for a month or so now and on 1st March Chloe will be old enough for her first show.  My sister was hoping to check out some local shows before they enter to get an idea of how things work with the dobes and to have a nosey at the other pups around!  We're used to Staffies so it will be completely new! 
Can anyone tell me of any local shows to the West Midlands, which would be useful to check out?  I've done a search, but I don't really know what I'm looking for!  :)

Also if you buy either Dog World or Our Dogs (available from larger newsagents weekly), Champ shows and open shows info is given as well as some Companion Shows.

Joining one of the Dobe breed clubs means she will get info sent to her regularly about breed shows too

If she just wants Companion shows then petshops and Vets surgeries as well as local papers often have info in them

The next big Dobe show is in Woking on 1st Febuary which may be a bit far for you but you would see Dobermanns from all over the country

That's a real pain, because it is a bit too far for us to go!
I just think she wants to know if she's worth showing before she enters a show!  Looking at her breeding and what she's like now, I think she is!  But I'm no expert!

I'm in the same boat as your sister.  I go to as many shows as I can. I'll be going to Woking
(I live in Beds) I'm not enetred, or at least Lola isn't :D but its good to go just to see. I for one think Lola is the most beautiful Dobe I've ever seen and she is sure to win Crufts one day :D However, I've never picked the winner in a show yet :D I'm obviously biased. I'm beginning to notice some points in the Dobe but they all seem to be lovely to me. Like 'Peanuts' in another post, I just enjoy going along. I go to Open Shows as well and more often than not there are Dobes there. The Kennel Club has a downloadable list of shows on its site (Sorry I can't do links yet:( ) I went to the Birmingham and District Dobe Show just last week. Perhaps I'll see you at some of the shows in the future. I'll be the one at the loo most of the time :D (nerves )

Don't think she's been entered into any shows yet, but I think she is hoping to get her entered for some in March
