neither of my boys have ever done a 'full' moult...have always looked ok if not great in their coats.
Both have now started to blow coat with avengance!!Question is...how long does it normally take for a double coated  breed to shed and then grow a new coat on average...crufts in 6 weeks..any chances that if they decide to do a drastic moult for the first time in their lives will they be naked or not by then??

Well you saw how Solli looked at Manchester well that was 4 weeks and he looks no better now, I am beginning to wonder if he will have coat by Crufts. It's a sod isnt it, but nothing you can do that I know of, have tried some of the products that are suposed to help but have not found that it does.

ahh well the boys will be going to crufts without their underwear then!!!

They may not do the full strip, but think the only thing you can do is keep the fingers crossed.

Well you saw Jozi at Manchester (she won Open bitch).  Her pups were born on 3rd Sept and she started loosing her coat when they were 8 weeks, so it has taken her from the beginning of November to mid january to get half a coat after an all out moult. 

You might be really lucky and they may be showable by Crufts, but not in their best bib and tucker.  I showed Jozi at an Open show on 21st December and she won the Group and was in last four for Bet in show, she was out of coat but past the scruffy stage.

Raider was about the same.  His coat took about three months to come back in last year.  Guess he would be similar in coat growth pattern to Jozi, as he is her half-brother (and a bit closer than that too, if you go back a bit :-)).  Many people in our breed have always shown their dogs in or out of coat - guess it's part of the "tradition" that most of us show what we have, win or lose.  That's one of the things I like about our elkhounders.  Sometimes you can get a nice surprise too, of course!  I showed Raider all the way through the baldness, and he still did very well, but he did not win top honours despite consistent placings.  Sometimes this was down to his being naughty rather than being out of coat, of course.  And sometimes down to his handler being nervous.  Ah well, next year maybe...

Nah, going by Manchester I think he may do rather nicely this year :D :D :D  Depends on the judges of course and not his fans :) :)

Don't want to worry you but had an aussie boy who did a full blow before summer, he is only now getting it back!!!!!!!!!!

Normally its not that long, only a couple of months, dobt if they do a full blow if it will be back by crufts.

Either leave it and hope not much comes out, or take it all out, the sooner its gone the quicker it will come back! (except perrys caot didn't understand that!!!!)
