I have to admit, I am looking forward to this years show. I am also tempted to put a tenner on Jordan to win at 7 to 1! :) No wonder they paid her double the fee to get her on...she's already said she has her eye on Peter Andre (remember him?) :D :D

So come on, who else is looking forward to it? You can admit it, you are amongst friends.
- By mygirl [gb] Date 22.01.04 10:15 UTC
Yes i will be watching..Can't wait it should be fireworks with Jordan, Kerry and George Best's wife :D
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 10:18 UTC
To my shame I will admit that I always get sucked in by the dreadful programme :D :D Mind you ..TV is good at the moment with new series of:

Enterprise
Angel
ER
Nip/Tuck
Fat Friends
Scrubs
Grand Designs

*sigh*

Once a couch potato always a couch potato

:D
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 22.01.04 10:33 UTC
Oh my claim to fame.  You know the rotund guy from fat friends that has been in it from the start. (sorry don't no who he plays) he's my partners friend  James Corden.
- By Blue Date 22.01.04 10:53 UTC
Like ER , Mel, sorry it is the last session.

Not fussy on the rest, in fact ( trying not to sound like a prude here) I was a bit taken a back by a particular scene on Tuck/nip ( whatever it is called).

My mother was in and on came these Sex scene , it didn't leave much to the imagination.

Now I am going to sound like a super prude but seems everything is dominated these days with it.

Well all but ER..;-)

- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:11 UTC
Doesn't your mother know about s*x then Pam?

;)
- By Blue Date 22.01.04 11:14 UTC
LOL I think So Mel,  ;-)

It was just a bit of a frantic scene in mot a way I could imagine my mother.

It is amazing what conversations you can strike up at such times.. " eh they curtains are a lovely colour".

That was a no no in my growing up life. :-)

Pam
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:17 UTC
Funny innit? My older kids think nothing about that with me .....I will be 50 next year :D ;) S*x has never been a hang up in our house (oooh er missis :p)

I do think kids are often more hung up about their parents than the pther way around though LOL You wouldn't BELIEVE some of the conversations my mother in law has had with me ..that she wouldn't DARE to have with her kids ;)
- By Carla Date 22.01.04 11:17 UTC
....what did I miss??!! :D :D
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:15 UTC
I expect she does Mel! ;) I expect she isn't a voyeur, though.
:)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:18 UTC
So everyone that watches a scene like that during a drama is JG? :D

Be careful here....there are plenty of classics that have scenes like that in ;)

Melody - Voyeur :P

PS..I find violence FAR more revolting than a natural act like s*x ;)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:27 UTC
But surely violence is as natural as s*x, Mel? ;)

PS. There has to be an element of voyeurism in anyone who enjoys watching s*x scenes. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, though.
;)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:35 UTC
I don't believe violence is natural , no ..it doesn't acheive anything and is a destructive force not necessary to our being here ..s*x does acheive something and IS necessary to our being  (and I am talking babies here):)

No there doesn't have to be an element of voyeurism in anyone who emjoys watching s*x scenes ..thats a generalization :)

If the scene is part of the greater story (as in Nip/Tuck) and serves a purpose (the leading actor is womaniser who is madly in love with his partners wife but is having great angst about it ..etc etc) then enjoyment from watching the scene as part of the whole is not the same as getting se*ual satisfaction from watching it ;)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:47 UTC
My personal view is that violence and s*x are as natural as eating and defecation. Some of which I'd rather not witness!
;)
- By SUE T [gb] Date 22.01.04 12:29 UTC
Succinctly put JG,well said .Sue T. xx
- By mygirl [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:49 UTC
You couldn't class a person watching s*x scenes on tv as a voyeur because a classic voyeur would be hidden thats the thrill and how they get satisfaction ;)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 11:53 UTC
Dictionary definition of Voyeurism:

1. A person who derives se*ual gratification from observing the na*ed bodies or se*ual acts of others, especially from a secret vantage point.
2. An obsessive observer of sordid or sensational subjects

Neither of those definitions would suit the general public watching a drama on the TV ;)

I feel sorry that you consider violence to be a natural act :(

PS....*'s used so that search engines dont pick up the thread ;) :)
- By Fablab [gb] Date 22.01.04 12:10 UTC
Just being pedantic here really but the dictionary definition of "natural" :

Present in or produced by nature: a natural pearl.
Of, relating to, or concerning nature: a natural environment.
Conforming to the usual or ordinary course of nature

Witness the violence involved in say a lion killing it's prey or defending it's territory against other lions ? :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 12:14 UTC
Re the violence being natural - of course it is! Look at the way a lion, for example, will kill the cubs of other lions. That is violent. It isn't cruel or sadistic though, because the lion is doing what lions do. Have you seen the David Attenborough film of the chimp band hunting, killing and eating the monkeys? Unbelievably violent. Again, entirely natural.

And the point about voyeurism being 'from a secret vantage point' - I didn't think the 'people' inside my TV knew I was there, watching them ... ;)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:04 UTC
Hmmm ..could have sworn we were talking about humans?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:07 UTC
But humans are part of nature, just like all the other animals.
:)
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:10 UTC
No , we are different...we have morals and we have self awareness for a start ;).....are we going to get into this big time? :D

Melody - stopping now ..can't see the point ;)
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:16 UTC
Melody,  Sorry to change the subject but did you see Grand Designs last night?  I fell asleep (to much whisky in my Lemsip) and was wondering how much they spent.
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:19 UTC
Oooh yes...they spent 1.2 MILLION in the end :D :D :D
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:20 UTC
Dear God, pocket change then.
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:22 UTC
:P :P :P

and I didn't like the house either  ......34k for a cooker???? I say nothing ...on the grounds it might incriminate me :D
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:28 UTC
How much for a cooker? For that I'd employ a cook!
:D
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:50 UTC
Apparantly it is 'the same as they use at the Savoy'

The killer is ....it broke down twice :P :P :P
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 22.01.04 14:43 UTC
Oh superb.  I bet they eat out 90% of the time and the other 10% they have take outs.
- By Lissie-Lou [gb] Date 22.01.04 23:31 UTC
lmao, yes!!  I was really pleased it had broken down..something to do with the thermostats wasn't it?  Who the heck would pay that much for a flippin' cooker?

Reckon I'm going to stick with my faithful old gas cooker!

- By Carla Date 22.01.04 13:12 UTC
So it would be perfectly natural for a human father to kill another mans babies because they could be a threat to him in the future? No, because we are civilised, and thats why even natural violence has no place in a civilised community. I'm not talking about a bit of rough s*x here... because providing its between adults with consent I wouldn't call that particulary violent.... ;)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 13:19 UTC
It may well be natural for that to happen, Chloe, but as you so rightly say we have decided it's wrong in our society.
:)
- By LJS Date 22.01.04 13:42 UTC
Did anybody watch the program a week or so ago about the different families of Chimps around the globe and the most violent group of chimps was infact one who had been studied for years and years and had had so much human interaction from scientists and local people that they had developed their violent tendancies thro learnt behaviour. Jealousy and learning the human way of doing things resulted in a very violent and domineering group which had been passed down and down in the family. Comparing them to say a group of chimps in the deep jungle of the congo that had had vey little human interaction showed they were more or less a peaceful group.

Pretty much how it happens in the human world !! When you have violence in the home it will be carried on through many generations to come :(

On a lighter note I wonder if Jordan will be employed to do some topless Curry's adverts? :D :D

Coming back from the pet shop it said on the radio that they were already moaning about the heat (Aussie summer) and they hadn't even left the luxury, air conditioned hotel yet!!!!!

Ooooh Errr Doesn't look to good now lol :D
- By jolin_71 [gb] Date 23.01.04 11:15 UTC
Just seen a quick interview with jordan  on tv this morning and she says she is definetly going to get "them" out because she doesn't want any white bits.
Enough to put me off my breakfast. lol
Linda :-)
- By EMMA DANBURY [gb] Date 23.01.04 11:17 UTC

- By jolin_71 [gb] Date 23.01.04 11:25 UTC

*lunch* :D :D
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.01.04 16:13 UTC
LOL! @ Chloe! :D
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 22.01.04 14:53 UTC
Yes, I saw that, Lucy. Jane Goodall (wasn't it she?) said that the violence shown by this particular group of chimps appeared to be a natural response to the stress of losing so much of their environment and privacy. The behaviour was likened to the violence in inner cities (CCTV footage of street fights etc). As we share 99% of our DNA with chimps, it seems a perfectly plausible explanation.
:)
- By LJS Date 22.01.04 15:11 UTC
It was fasinating and worrying how much humans can affect animals and the environmental balance through the destruction of their natural environment :(

Did you also see the one on the chimp who they thought was half chimp half human, Oscar. That was a very sad tale. Frightening to think that it could ever happen which I hope will be never !
- By jacki [gb] Date 22.01.04 16:09 UTC
now how did this post go from 'i'm a celebrity' to 's*x' to 'chimps'?
very interesting tho :)  i think that kerry mcfadden is going to find it really hard, think jordan and andre will have a bonk, yes chloe i will be watching it but always have to shut my eyes when they eat the insects..makes me gag
- By Lissie-Lou [gb] Date 22.01.04 23:36 UTC
I agree with you Jacki.
Think Kerry will have a hard time there.  She does seem devoted to hubby and kids, and I'm sure she'll miss them terribly.
I'm looking forward to watching her though, she such a 'talker' and always makes me laugh.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what happens with Peter Andre and Jordan.

Oooh, I can't wait..roll on Monday!  (How sad am I?!!)

Take care

Lisa
