Unbelievably my cat is now in my livingroom (and clawing the bloody sofa!!!!).  I know that seems a banal thing to say but he has hardly been in here for 6 months since I got the dog and said dog is probably ZZZZzzzing on my bed at the present moment.  But to have a semi normal pet evening is actually quite something in my household.  I truly hold out hope that we will all become a happy family eventually :D

we have had our dog for 18 months we still hardly ever see My cats in the living room it seems to have been decided they own upstairs and Tula owns the down stairs and they only venture down if she is out side or asleep other than that they sit on the stairs behind the gate and the dog sits infront of it there have been a few bad moments when they have come in when she was awake they always start on her and then she wants to chase them but as long as some one is there any problems have been avoided. We just get to share the bed with the cats while the dog snuggles up on the sofa all on her own :-)

probably the problem (!) is that cat used to have it all til dog appeared lol and dog hates cat and cat doesn't know what dog's problem is lol - so we live a kind of "dance around each other" life.  But we're all kinda happy so as long as I'm on the ball it's all working :D  God knows what it would be like otherwise!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh how nice you have a Tula also.  Mine had her 9th birthday on Sunday, and is my first homebred baby.

Hi
I am incredibly lucky where my dogs and cats are concerned. I had my first dog before the cats came along. My dog is very gentle and just wanted to mother these tiny kittens that wandered into our lives. When I got my new puppy it was huge fun to chase the cats who were then a year old. New puppy was firmly put in place by the cats lol. The dogs and cats lead a fairly peaceful exsistance and I quite often see one of the cats curled up sleeping next to one of the dogs. One of my cats is sooo funny at times, she'll come in from outside go to the sofa and boot the pup off so she can have a nice warm bit to lie on.  I have to say they generally get on but sometimes the cats can be a nuisance, winding the dogs up when they are lying quietly.

Hi ,we rescued Lola last June,at the time we had cats (brothers)who got along perfectly,we were warned that Lola chased cats !!!!!!! we  thought surely it cant be that bad !!(how wrong can you be !)  i had until that point had cats and dogs who had lived in almost perfect harmony, and then Lola came along and blew all of that out of the water !!suffice it to say seven months later we have a sort of  uneasy truce, cat no1(Charlie)has mostly tolerated her,Enzo (second cat) has only just come back home,i had lots of advice here from fellow CDers and the bottom line was "it takes time" and it does !! and it has , strangely enough though Lola has the edge over the cats ,she still chases them and playes a bit too roughly sometimes, but they do have one trump card to play when needed........THEY climb trees beautifully,SHE can not, and they sit confidently up trees ,taking pot shots at her ,and i swear grinning from ear to ear !! and does she get p****d off !...... ahh...." home sweet home!!" Good luck Sue T xx
