Slice a knife around the dge then peel back. Great food, not so great packaging! Quite messy, but I beleive they are environmentally friendly.
If all else fails - give it to the dog - bet they'd be in it in seconds!

I personally use a knife and go around the edge then lift the plastic bit off. But saying that I seem to wear more then I serve

Thats what I've been doing but it seems such a nusiance, I spent hours looking for the peely back bit!!!! :)
The problem is I'm blunting all my good vegetable knives (oh my god I sound so old)
THey'll only cut through it for a week or so and then they go blunt.

Most knives go blunt - try investing in a steel to resharpen it - a sharp knife is safer than a blunt one.
PS - I feed Naturediet - slice down the two long sides, then 'filet' across the top........

I got stuck in a hotel room once with a packet and no knife.......ever tried opening one with a teaspoon :D

Hi Rachael
I hold the packet in one hand then get a pair of scissors and stab the packet at the bottom. I then cut to the right up to the top and then to the left upto the top. That leaves it attached at the top. I then slip the wrapping up keeping the clean side showing and then using the scissors cut and scrap the ND out. No messy fingers and most of the ND in the bowl ! :)

Okay next question and this might be a silly one but I thought I'd ask just to be on the safe side.
Is it okay to swap between varieties/flavours, or is that classes as swapping foods and needs to be done gradually
I just ask because I saw a post where a dog ahd a reaction to one type and not the other!!
Hi Rachel
We give Ella a different variety along with her nutro for her evening meal. No ill effects although we've stopped the fish one as we had a couple obviously off which smelt dreadful. I think basically the base ingredients are the same so you're OK. Ella loves them all.
Best wishes

I think it all depends on the individual dog. If Darcy is prone to a bit of an upset tum you may find chopping and changing may well upset her but from what I can gather , the ingredients are the nearest thing to the Barf diet and so you are less likely to see this i would have thought. I only feed ND lite so wouldn't know by personal experience :)

Rachael,
If you buy a small serrated knife (like a steak knife) it should never get dull, at least mine don't and I use them all the time for trimming veg, meat and opening ND packs. I slice along the outer edge of the packet and have no problems with it.
I switch between varieties with no problem. I just stay away from the lamb and rice because my dog gets soft poo when she eats too much lamb. At 65%+ lamb, the lamb and rice is too rich for her, but she's fine with the original ND, which has tripe/lamb/chicken mixed.

I cut around 3 edges with a knife. peel back the top and tip it into the bowl. Fortunately they don't make the tripe variety anymore but with that one it was stand well back or get it in the eye if you were lucky or the mouth if you weren't.
Sally
Hi Sally,
Oh no, my dog loves the tripe one, and I'm going to run out in about 2 weeks! Wonder why they stopped doing it - have they replaced it with anything else do you know?

They've replaced it with Chicken & Tripe. My dogs also prefered the tripe one above anything else but it wasn't very popular apparently.
but it wasn't very popular apparently
Probably, because the owners thought it stank!! :D Well I did, for one!
Rachael, Monty gets different flavours without a hitch, but then he has got a cast-iron stomach! :)

I feed Ruby NatureDiet - I use a sharp knife and cut around the top, then cut the NatureDiet into chunks in the pack (crisscross) then squezze into bowl - voila, no mess. You think NatureDiet's difficult to open, try Natures Menu cat food, soft pouches, so a nightmare!! *lol* Roll on NatureDiet cat food - only 2 years longer to wait :D
Hi Rachel, I use scissors, stab them in one end and then cut round 3 sides and peel back. I use different varieties, first packet I lay my hands on. I'm off to the warehouse tomorrow, as I've just run out.

I get the husband to do it :p :p saves me getting it all over me which I used to do every time and it takes Molly two days to finish one packet so we have to wrap it up with clingfilm cos the top just rolls back and stays there - but best food for her I think
Gina

I feed my cats naturediet dog food (they did used to do a cat one years ago, but yes only another 2 years to go !!) they like the dog food and even eat the carrots and rice !! Problem is cos I only feed it as a top up to burns they take a few days to get through the packet, I tip it into one of those plastic boxes you get chinese takeaways in - looks better than the chinese takeaway :D :D :D

I think you have to have a piper lead it into the room, then someone has to address it before plunging a dirty great knife into it ;)
:D a piper - failing that, a dog that likes to sing for his supper! :D
