I have a cavvie puppy who is cheeky.  I have been told by my vet that she can speyed at 6 months before her first season.  I am wondering if this is a good idea or to wait for her first season.  I know my vet advises people with larger breeds to wait until after first season.  I have until April to decide what to do. I don't know if to forget speying and breed from her depending on how she turns out when adult.  Would age 3 yrs be a good age.  How do all breeding terms work.  Can you just pay to have a stud dog and then that is it.   Or do they have to have some pups would be grateful of any advice or advice on books to buy. tks

Spaying before a season is getting the norm over here, I personally would wait until she had had a season

Breeding good Cavaliers is not as simple as paying the stud fee. The dog & bitch need the following:
1.Current clear heart test
2.Be from heart tested/eye tested clear parents
3.Current clear eye test
4.Free from luxating patella
5.Fit the breed standard
6.Have good temperaments
7.If a maiden bitch then an experienced good quality stud who has produced heart & eye tested clear offspring

They are a very commerical breed & it is getting more common for C sections to be needed which puts your bitch at risk

If you intend to breed from her you should show her & also look at other peoples dogs, to see how she compares to the correct type of cavalier. As to finding a stud dog you should check with the breeder of your bitch as they should know what lines are suitable
