Hi to all once again, as i am new to this forum i hope no-one thinks i am taking libertys in hogging the site by posting another post, it is very re-assuring to hear the views and advice from others especially when one is a newbie and slightly inexperienced.
Anyway, our girl will keep trying to eat her pooh, she does this when shes been outside and god damn shes so quick at getting there before i or my wife does to pick the pooh up.
It is very worrying to say the least to think of the dirty habbit she has,we try and be on guard to pick it up before she gets to it and if we are not, we tell her off in a stern NO, without smacking her, i dont believe that would be the correct way to handle the situation especially as we look for alternatives with our own children,it is a filthy habit and we want her to stop.
Please reply with any advice or maybe ideas from your own experiences as to how we could stop her doing this.

LOL been there still there :D OK try typing coprophagia in the search and you will find loads on it. Puppies do this alot for one reason or another, try putting pineapple chunks in with his food that is meant to work, although it didnt for me it may for you.

Hi Zoe, thanks for your reply, would'nt pineapple be too acidic for a pups tummy?
I have not heard of this before and with the inexperience we both have we dont want to make any mistakes.
A friend suggested maybe some vits or something but I wonder maybe to ring the vet and seek advice as we dont want to upset her system.
We are feeding her at the vets advice, with pedigree chum and mixer biscuts and she does digest this ok without having runny toilet!
We did think that she just might think its another dinner when she goes,[sorry if thats disgusting] because it smells the same as her food?
It is such a dirty thing to do but as she is young maybe it just a behavioral thing and she needs correcting.

They do it for a number of reasons, it may be because she saw her mum clearing up after her (mums eat their pups poo to keep the area clean) or it may be because she has seen you pich the poo up and thinks that is what you want, or it could be because she knows you will chase her when you see her eating it or it could be she has not enough vitamins, there are loads of reasons, try typing in coprophagia and believe me you will get plenty of advice, and if after you followed the advice and she still does it and your worried pop in to your vets and ask for their advice and maybe a health check :)
