A little while ago someone posted complaining about having mailed loads of Champ dog listed breeders and getting no replies. have just got back from a week away, and had several enquiries backed up on the system - and out of these 3 had invalid e-mail addresses. I have managed to decipher the problems with 1, but the other 2 will go unanswered unless they get back in touch with correct addresses! It struck me that this has happened a few times before, just not noticed it too much when they come 1 at a time. So to those wanting to get an answer - make sure you put in the right e-mail details, look out for those stray punctuation marks, transposed letters etc.

I have had this problem, i emailed about 10 champ breeders and only 2 got back to me. I cpoied and pasted my messages so i know that my email details where right. I just put it down to the breeder not having any pups left.
Debbie.
PS. I have now got my pup.

I have had the opposite problem, I often sit for ages going through show catalogues or old mails compiling lists of good breeders details and numbers etc etc.
I always wish searchers good luck and ask them just to say , " Hi got a pup" so I know it is not in vain.. for every 20 people I am lucky if I hear from 1 person. I understant people forget but it is nice to know.
Luckily I do occasionally hear from breeders who say , thanks for passing that on etc.
I don't give up as think it helps the breed in some way be trying to steer people away from PF or Not so good breeders but a nod to let you know would go a long way also..

Any enquiries or questions I've had, have all been answered, I get grooming questions and all sorts, help wanted etc, and I make sure I answer them all. It's only right! Not had any problems with e-mail address, when I've just hit the "reply" button?

Same thing happens frequently with me too and you hit reply and the email addy is incorrect/invalid. There must many people who think I'm rude and don't reply..I think it depends how the email comes in - if it's direct to your email addy then replying should be easy, but I think if they come in through the 'contact breeder' button then that maybe puts the onus on enquirers to leave their contact details correctly..I'm really not too sure though why it happens etc...

Do breeders prefer an email or a telephone call ?
I can understand the problem with phone calls in relation to the breeder as they may spend alot of time answering calls but at least you both get a "feel" for one another -

Hi dont mind which method they choose, just feel bad that those people think they are being ignored by me, when infact I cant get through to the address they gave, and yes, it is through the "reply button"route. Most common error is a punctuation mark slipped in, or transposed letter somewhere.

I much prefer a phone call. I often get ask questions about the breed as well as / instead of asking about puppies. Those aren't always easy to reply to without writing a short book and often the answers depend on knowing a bit more about prospective owner and their circumstances. So I find it much easier to speak to the person directly rather than communicate by e-mail. And as you say, even if it is a straight puppy inquiry you get a 'feel' for the other person when you speak to them. There is a boot on the other foot of this question too. In the past I've often written a long reply to a question, never to hear from the inquirer again. So now I usually write back explaining that I can give a fuller answer if I speak to the person directly and giving them the best times to call.

Hi, I got my puppy through Emailing breeders on c/d, the reason I mailed is because I didn't want to annoy them by phonning when they were busy. I was extremley lucky finding the right breeder and the right pup at the right time, so I am very lucky and thankfull for this site and for the advice that has been given not to me personally but in the form of past posts, oh yeah my hubby thanks you aswell for the hours of me hogging the comp while I was reading them.
Nickie.
