I have a ten week old yorkie puppy & a eight week old, they were both ok until teatime today, now the ten week old one has been sick six times, I gave them thier worming tablets yesterday, so i am hoping this sickness is a reaction to the tablets. Is there anything I can give him to help him get over this quickly?? I am worried about him.

Jacqui

such tiny puppies can't afford to be so sick. It could be a reaction to the worming tablet - some do react badly. Has he managed to keep any fluid in him? If not - get him to the vet - loss of fluid can be dangerous, the vet will be able to check him over and if necessary replace his fluids. With any luck, he'll say he's OK but at least you'll know.

Do let us know how he gets on please. Good luck

Thanks Pam
He is keeping fluid down he has been having 6 teaspoons of sugar water ever 15 mins, he seem to be brighter now & having a little play so fingers crossed. I am keeping a good eye on him though & if he starts to refuse the water he is going to the vets.

Glad to hear he is doing better.......such a feeling of panic, isn't it when they are so small.
Only a suggestion . . . you may want to try some Pedialite (don't know what the brand name is over there), but it is what is used in humans (babies/children) to prevent dehydration and it has the added benefits of replenishing the eltrolytes, which sugar water doesn't do. But sugar water is also good. If he is back to playing after sugar water, it sounds like he will be fine. All the best

We use something called Diahoralyte on the children, but I'm not sure if it'd be safe to use on a puppy. It's ok on a tiny baby though.
