We have just got back from the vets with Sal, taking her an early morning walk this morning (to burn off some energy before the Manchester show!)and she's harring about like a loonatic as normal enjoying the brisk air and frost on the ground, and she stopped by some bushes I went over to see what had got her attention and she was caught "on" her eye by a "prickly" bush, she jumped back and it looked like her eye was bleeding....PANIC....I picked her up and tried to carry her upside down back home...not easy...finally got her back, I was covered in blood luckily we were only round the corner on the big green. Took her to the vets...straight away this was 5.30am this morning and had to wait while they looked to see what she had "cut" at first glance they thought it was her eyeball it turns out thankfully it the corner of her eye not the eye ball..Thank God, she has got four stitches and is recovering from the "medication" to keep her still.
May just go and have a nervous breakdown now if no one minds Karen

Oh Karen how scary and they do pick their moments dont they. Its a bit soon for a stiff drink but I'd be tempted anyway :) {{{Hugs}}} to Sal hope her eye heals quickly .Gillian

Oh thats nasty Karen. Something I always worry about. I'm always having to push Anna into blackthorn and the like. Somehow it's always the other end of her that gets hurt. She seems to damage her tail regulaly! It seems to spend the greater part of it's life bandaged up!
Best wishes, John

One of my bitches has a largish scar on her eye and it was not discovered till I took her for her eye test, had noticed that she blinked a good deal in the sun but have know idea when she did it or how. She loves hunting in the bushes and brambles so I guess she did in on one of her hunting expeditions, no blood so I did not know but it left a large scar or so I'm told.

Thanks for the knid words; I have been back around to where she was and found it wasn't a "plant" but a piece of "industrial-razor wire" it has been identified by tow men who were walking past, no idea where it came from as its in the middle of a green in the bushes where children play and dogs walk.
Sal too has been caught up in blackthorn in Sutton park she seems "obsessed with the bushes-or whats in them"
Have been back round with gloves pliers(to cut the wire) and a cardboard box to remove the wire.
