Hi all
Just wanted to some advice on what to put into kongs - sam (12 weeks) has just discovered them and goes crazy!! I have put some peanut butter, small dog biscuts and also some little pieces of cheese into one and that goes down well, but i never know if I am meant to pack them very tight with nice things or just put a few things into the kong
Does anyone have some recipies?

What ever takes your fancy - if you feed a tinned or moist food then you can give a whole meal in a Kong, I give my adult dogs left overs from the family table.....

My two get wots in the fridge....
At the moment thats been bits of carrot, celery and cheese, and a smear of marmite , all wedged in really hard, cos they can get them emptied really quick.
As to how hard to pack it down, depends how good your dog is at getting it out!

Hi Jenny,
Well if it's recipes your after, try visiting the Kong website - http://www.kongcompany.com/how2use.html. It has plenty of recipes on there for you to try. I give Tundra his Puppy Kong at night and I fill it with cheese, dried food, peanut butter and I always leave a Bonio biscuit sticking out at the end and that always does the trick! I have been extremely lucky as my 5 month old pup was clean at night ever since he had his Kong. My other dog took ages to house train until she had a Kong and literally, overnight, she was clean! They are fantastic and I wouldn't be without one now. Another recipe I will be trying (in the warmer months!) is a frozen Kong. Basically, seal the small end with peanut butter and then fill it with a gravy mixture and leave it to freeze. Although, it will be extremely messy so the best thing to do is give it to him in the garden. If your dog is emptying the Kong vey easily then pack it in really hard. If it is too hard to begin with, he may give up.
Hope this helps you somewhat and happy cooking!!
Kind regards,
Charlene

as mine is for an adult Staff I have the black giant sized one. I use a slice of bread and butter as it can be jammed in nice and tight and lasts for ages!

A little peice of cheese to plug the hole in the bottom, fill with dry food, top up with water and freeze. lasts a bit longer that way.

Little bits of cheese and marmite goes down well with my lot!
