I have a 6 month old Westie that I still feed 4 times a day, he almost always eats all of it but sometimes he leaves a little.  At what age do I start cutting him down to 3 and then 2 meals a day (larger proportions of course).  Would be gratefull for any advise.  Regards Jenny

I usually cut my pups down to three meals a day at about 3 months, then two meals a day at about 6 months.

Hi Jenny, I have a 5 month old Dane puppy, who is still on 4 feeds a day, on most days. I was advised by his breeder, that when he started to go off his last meal of the day, to just add the extra to the other three. To date, he's still enjoying the 4, and according to everyone, he's coming on beautifully, so I'm not in a hurry to cut him back. I think if you talk to his breeder, they should be able to help you, and use your own judgement, if he's still clearing his bowl each time you feed him, carry on, and if he's leaving some her and there, cut him back. Hope that's of some help, that's the advice that was given to me, even though there's an obvious size difference between our two dogs :D , I suppose the advice would be the same, however, someone's sure to be along soon, if I'm wrong

I did the same as Sharon, Dolly was on 4 meals then 3 now down to 2 and i adjusted the quantity accordingly.
Although she still enjoys tea and toast when Trisha is on :D (She just can't believe half that goes on,on that show) ;)

Dizzy (another Dane) seemed to cut herself down to 3 feeds at 10 weeks... she just seemed to sleep so much she didn't have time for all 4 feeds

She's doing well and I trust her judgement. I tend to keep her mid day meal slightly smaller but use food as a training aid to make up the portion size iykwim.

at 6 months i cut Toby down to 2 meals a day,
