I got my pup 2 weeks ago.He constantly digs at the carpet. He doesn't dig when he's outside, only in the house.Does anybody know why he does this and how can I make him stop.

This is what they do to a bitches flank, could be he is still looking for his dam or he could be uncomfortable.

That makes since. So I guess he'll stop when he gets used to being here.I thought maybe he was just bored.I have 3 kids,so I don't know how he could be.Hopefully it will pass soon.He keeps us up all night. Thanks

He could have a pain in the guts if he is doing it a good deal, or he could find laying down uncomfortable, or someone may have spilt food on the carpet.

He doesn't act like he's in pain or unhappy at all.He digs until he gets tired, then he takes a nap. When he wakes up,he'll play for a bit, then dig, then play, then dig some more.he's either sleeping, digging,or playing.he's going to the vet next week,so I guess if there's something really wrong,I'll soon find out.

Who know it could be obsessive behaviour or boredom or something not right, may be the vet can help, is it scratching or pummelling, if the latter I would think he is distressed or anxious as this is the nursing behaviour, if it is scratching in the same place I would thing something is spilt on the carpet, if it is digging just anywhere I would suspect pain.

That's quite possible, Jackie. Amyleigh has said that this pup is only 7 weeks old, so if she's had him 2 weeks already, then he was taken from his mother at only 5 weeks.

Poor little scrap. I'd be surprised if he had been properly weaned. What sort of breeder homes a pup at that age? :(

See this posters other post JG, it would appear the pup was handed over at 4 weeks

Bought from an heartless uncaring b*****d of a puppy farmer then. Nobody who cares about their pups would home one at that age for whatever reason.
