hi guest,

a simple answer coming up. sarcoptic mange is a contagious mange mite, that affects dogs skin - itchiness, bald patches, hair loss are all signs. It is also carried & passed on by foxes, - hence the name.

Best way to try & avoid it is use prevevtitive measures by using routine ectoparasite control (delouse your dog)

Although your dog could still get it, so always monitor dogs for any symptoms & take to the vet if worried.

:)

The mange caught from foxes is Sarcoptic mange (scabies in humans) it is very contagous and rife within the fox population. There is also Cheyletiellosis (walking dandruff) that can be passed from foxes or rabbits to dogs. Both are caused by mites and the Sarcoptic is easily passed to humans.
