My 5 month old Lab has started to get grey hairs in amongst her black hair. The only area it affects is the wavy line down her back and into her tail. Has anybody else experienced this ?

My guess is that they are not grey hairs but yellow hairs. It's quite common for blacks to have a few yellow hairs scattered in there somewhere. A couple of my yellows have carried a few black hairs.

The dark colours Labradors often show some greying of the muzzle quite young but by that I mean 5 to 6 years old. My Lucy was what is now called "Fox Red" and she was quite grey in the muzzle by 6 years old. By the time she died at 13 she really did look like a little old lady!

I wil look a bit more closely to see if they are yellow - you may well be right.
