A week today, my Shih Tzu had four pups, one of which was the runt and we lost at two days old. All the others have been doing really well until today. We have one pup who just wont stop crying, he feels a little cooler than the others but wont suckle on mum. I have tried to give it a bottle of lactose made up but he wont take that either. Mum is getting very distressed and crying. She is also barking at me to help but I dont know what else to try!
Please help if you have any suggestions. Thank you

Don't try to feed the puppy until you get it warmed. You should start to that do immediatially. The best place is inside your own clothes next to your skin in a warm room. Alternatives are a heated pad or well wrapped hot water bottle under the pup. You could also use a heat lamp, but if you do make sure that the pup doesn't become more dehydrated - it probably is a bit dehydrated already if it hasn't been feeding. Once you've begun to warm the pup, call your vet.
