Not a particularly nice subject but a friends friend has recently passed away, he lived in a town about 10 miles away but as she doesnt know how to contact any of his family she doesnt know how to find out about the funeral.  Apart from keeping an eye on the local papers does anyone know if there is any other way we can find out when the funeral is or who the funeral director is ??

As most people are cremated these days contact the nearest crematorium with the full name of the person who has passed. Failing that then sadly it's contact all the funeral directors in the area.

I would just look at yell.com and see how many funeral directors there are in the town and ring them !

I was just looking on Yell.com there are 8, so it looks like thats what ill be doing this morning :)

The other option is to go to the town and look in the newsagents windows and the flowershops windows, the notices are usually posted there.

Ive done it ......... I phoned the funeral directors from the yellow pages and it was number 4 on the page, so all sorted without too much hassle :)
