Just read your responses and yes we all seem to have labs around the same age...

Minstrel is the same as your Star when visitors arrive, jumping up all the time, have tried, all forms of deterrent but I am going back to praise  and reward type I think...

You said Star is going to be spayed, has she had a season yet?  The reason I ask is because my vet wont do it until she has had one season?  Have asked the pros and cons before but no one has convinced me either way.

Minstrell is ok after a while on the lead, initially she does pull but gets better...  Tried her on a halti and she went loopy...  Thought she would hurt herself so took it off...

She just always, always seems to be intent on annoying us, it does make me laugh when we are sitting down and she comes in with a toy in her mouth, we say 'No' as we are watching TV or reading papers, then she will go and get another and we go through the reportoire of all her toys and her nuzzling it on our laps...

she is very good off the lead in the park, but is too boisterous when meeting other dogs....

Be good to swap advice....
