Reading the post about Scotish Isles made me think of holidays. Does anyone know of any dog friendly cottages etc. I'd like to go somewhere - preferably a cottage where I can walk the dogs and they'd be welcome. I did a search honestly!!! Nothing came up.
Thanks :)

I've got a brochure somewhere from a company that specialises in dog friendly cottages I'll try and find it to see who they are, i'm almost certain we got their details from the ads in the back of dogs today.

Hi Steve can yu either post on here or pm me the name of the company when you find it?

I think I'm going here... http://www.lecalecottages.co.uk/LecaleWelcome.html  We were there on honeymoon last year and there are some stunning walks around you. :)

If you go on the ncdl website they have a link for dog friendly holiday cottages.

I went to a fab place in Dumfries & Galloway, can't remember the name of the farm we stayed on but the area has loads of forestry land and it's superb for dog walking.    So if you can find dog-friendly accomodation then you are guaranteed of good walks.  :D

As this topic comes up quite frequently, I was just wondering if nice, sweet, kind, admin, might think of adding a permanent feature where we could recommend or look for decent dog friendly holidays.

That would be a lovely idea Admin - but would it be advertising? It would certainly be very useful if other Champdoggers could recommend places. It's always nice to go somewhere tried and tested - particularly if pets are involved.

We always holiday in a cottage, we send of for brochures and at least 50% of the cottages take dogs so we don't bother sending off for specialised dog friendly cottages as a lot take them anyway, more willl accept dogs than small children. I've just booked a lodge in Yorkshire for Xmas next year, dog & kids coming & it has the added bonus of a outside hot tub.

That sounds super. I really envy you - the whole family and the dogs. My family could never do that. My daughter doesn't get on with her stepfather. I sometimes feel as though you could cut the atmosphere with a knife.  I'm in the middle of the two of them and feel as though I'm being pulled in half :(
(I've had a bad day with them)

My daughter doesn't get on with my bf but I try not to let it get to me, shes 15 and doesn't like most people. I've told her we've booked up for xmas and theres a bed if she wants to come, if she doesnt thats fine. I was widowed when she was 3 and have spent my life looking after my 2 kids (son 14 ), its my turn to have fun now, shes welcome to join in if she wants.

Try www.mackays-scotland.co.uk.  They specialise in scottish holiday cottages.  Not all take dogs but a lot do.  They've got places from the Highlands to the Borders.  I've used them loads of times and they are very professional and the cottages have all been great.  I think you can order their brochure online.

Hoseasons do cottages as well as holiday parks, and a lot of them do allow pets.

We're off to Center Parcs for a long weekend - they charge £35 extra for a dog villa - but I think it's a max of 2 dogs.  I'll let you know how we get on, especially as he's not allowed on the sofas........
