My husband, 2 teenage daughters and I have a male Wire Fox Terrier (Paddy) who we absolutely love.  He is 8 1/2 years old and has been a real treasure but we would like another dog/bitch.  Ideally we would like another Wire Fox Terrier but as Paddy is so territorial we don't think this is a good idea.  Can anyone tell me whether he might accept another dog or bitch and if so what type of breed might be compatible?

We thought maybe a bitch would be less of a threat to him and a breed like a Golden Retriever might be a good match.

I would be very grateful for any advice.
