My 4 month flat coat bitch has just spent the entire night sat on my bed whingeing and moaning. This is completely out of character for her - normally she sleeps quietly on the bed all night. My first thought was that she was in pain in some way but i can't see anything wrong with her unless she has a tummy upset but her pooh has been ok.I have had a flat coat for 7 years and i know if my old girl is off colour she will lie quietly and thats the sign she feels poorly and i have never experienced this moaning before.I have read the dobe post and this seems common in that breed but i've not heard of it in flatties.Has anyone else? Today she seems quieter than normal but has stopped moaning and i cant help worrying that there is something wrong. If she is still off tomorrow i will take her to the vet but i wondered if anyone had any thoughts.Could teething make her behave like this? She is at that stage but i checked her mouth and cant see any sore spots but i guess she could still be sore. She is not a whingey pup normally so any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Beckysmum,
I have a 5 month old puppy and iI have had 2 nights like this this week, meeko has had a terrible time with teething which seems worse at night poor thing, I'm not saying that this is what is wrong as I am no expert but if you have a look for teething this may help but if you are worried the best thing to do is see a vet, but I am sure more experienced people will be along in a bit.
Nickie.

IT could well be teeth - if you're a Mum you'll know how miserable it makes human babies. Bongella would take the edge off the pain, and a good stand by is an old tea towel soaked in water, tied in a knot and frozen. Take it out of the freezer for 10 mins before giving it to her to avoid freezer burn....

On looking closer i found some swelling on the side of her mouth so it looks like it could be her teeth. Thanks for the tea towel tip - i will try it. I'll keep an eye on it for a day and if it doesn't go i'll take her to the vets.
