HI EVERYONE, I'M FAIRLY NEW ON THIS SITE AND HAVE ONLY POSTED A COUPLE OF TIMES,
I HAVE JUST GOT A BOXER PUPPY ON 20th DECEMBER AND WE HAVE BEEN FEEDING HIME ON EUKANUBA "MEDIUM" PUPPY FOOD, I HAVE CONSULTED MY VET AND SHE THINKS THAT THIS IS THE BEST FOOT FORWARD, HOWEVER, I FAILED TO MENTION THAT IT WAS FOR A "MEDIUM" DOG (FULLY GROWN). ARE BOXERS OFFICIALLY CLASSED AS MEDIUM OR LARGE? AS I HAVE READ MANY DIFFERENT AND CONTRADICTING ARTICLES (MAINLY ON THE INTERNET) AND IF THEY ARE THE LARGE BREED THEN DO I NEED TO SWITCH FOOD? OR WILL HE BE OK ON THE MEDIUM STUFF WHILE HE'S A PUPPY? AS HE SEEMS TO LIKE IT AND EATS AS MUCH AS HE IS GIVEN (HE'D EAT THE WHOLE BAG IF HE CULD GET TO IT!!) THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR TIME,
CRAIG.

Hi craig, how old is your puppy? Did your breeder not give you a puppy diet sheet?

Hi,
Paddy, (the puppy) is 10 weeks old today, I got him on the 20th december at 7 1/2 weeks old, I did get a diet sheet and they also provided me with some food that he had been fed on since weaning, but we changed it over the course of a week to eukanuba as we were advised by a friend to switch him to a "complete" dry food as this would be the best option for him, now I am just a bit unsure as to whether he should be on the medium or large breed version?!
Thanks for your reply,
Craig.
I think it might have been wise to stick with the breeder's recommended diet for a bit longer. If the breeder is reputable it would be expected that he/she would know what is best for the puppies he/she breeds.
That point aside, I would be inclined to feed 'large breed puppy' food, but your breeder should be able to advise you.

Hello, hope you are getting on well with your puppy, I have had quite a few boxers have an eight year old and a 7 month old at the moment. Really would have been best to stick with what the breeder indicated. My puppy is fed Nutro really likes it and NO it is not the large breed formula weight and size differs on most tyoes of feed - if not sure phone the tel no should be on bag and these companies are really helpful (not surprising the amount of competition they all have) - some even join you to a club with info on feeding and money off vouchers. good luck.
