Has anyone any ideas how to stop a bitch wetting on her blanket, even if she has just been out for a wee, if I put her a new blanket down she marks it. sometimes only a small amount, but sometimes lots! I know the problem wouldn't probably arise if she didn't have a bed, but this isn't really an option, not very nice either! I suppose washing her bed every day isn't to much of a hardship, but my other dogs have got big bouncy beanbags and obviously she can't have one. Any ideas?? :)

How long has she been doing it? It is possible she is due or in season, but I would suspect she may have an infection. I would take her and a urine sample to your vets. I think this needs eliminating first.

Hi,
My 2 8 month olds do that sometimes not all the time though. Very strange, we don't have a basket for them just blankets for them, we are going to try a basket so it's raised from the floor, sometimes I think they still remember the paper and think that it's ok for them to do it on the blanket.

Hi,
Is she spayed? Sometimes when female dogs are spayed it can cause some leakage. Otherwise, as Sandra recommends, take her to the vets. It may be a urinary tract infection. My male had that and he was wetting a lot even he had just been outside.

Charlene

Hi She is 13 months old and has always done it, if I didn't give her a blanket she wouldn't wee, so she doesn't have to 'go'. I think she is marking it as her property, I dont know if they do this?

If she has always done it I would say it has developed into a habit. Why don't you try her without the blanket for a while and see if you can break the habit.

Hi I think that would probably work, but when I take her blanket away she just stands there and doesn't want to lay down, It makes you feel really guilty!:)

That's because she expecting you to put her blanket there. If you want to break it and not keep washing it daily I feel this is the only way to go. She will soon get used to it and it won't do her any harm short term.
Just walk away and don't look at her, worth a try anyway.

That's true, I'll try tonight, probably get up in the night feeling guilty and give her the blanket, suppose it'll be my fault if i do! thanks for your input :)
