Topic Dog Boards / General / ~ Breed Name Abbreviations
- By Leigh [us] Date 07.03.02 11:21 UTC
A question appeared in another thread about the abbreviations we all use for the different "breed" names. So I thought it might be a good idea to compile a list :D

Here are a few to start you off:

GWP = German Wirehaired Pointer
GLP = German Longhaired Pointer
HV = Hungarian Vizsla
HWV = Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla
LM = Large Munsterlander
BI = Bracco Italiano
IS = Italian Spinone
HPR = Hunt Point Retrieve

Over to you :-)

I've certainly learned some things on this thread!!!

BTW, those Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers are absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, not had anything to do with them, and don't know anyone who owns one. Any ideas on temperament?

They are really lovely looking dogs.

Hi,
BMD = Bernese Mountain Dog
ACD = Australian Cattle Dog
OES = Old English Sheepdog
Jane :)
- By chaliepud [gb] Date 14.08.03 08:01 UTC
Hi Lisa

I've known a few Tollers and most have been very well tempered, although some males can be more strong willed. They are also, like most Gundogs, a breed that needs to work in some way, I have known ones that compete in Agility and Obedience.

Type in Decoymans on Google, one of the foremost breeders in the UK (I went to visit many years ago, very impressive dogs working with ducks) and a great site

Really sorry to hear about your boy, why can't they live longer?
