Please help we would like to buy a trained adult labrador, up to 5 years of age.  Our beloved Archie died at the beginning of December.  We expected Archie to be with us for many years but sadly his life was cut short and we miss him desperately.  We have a lot of love to give another labrador and would welcome any help, please contact janetduggan@paddockhill.fsnet.co.uk.
Many thanks
Jan Duggan
PS:  If anyone knows a labrador breeder in Cubley called Maureen, please ask her to contact me.

Had you thought about contacting the official Lab rescue?  Guide Dogs for the Blind perhaps to go on their list for puppies that have failed for a variety of reasons their GD training or for one that has to be retired early or one that has retired but the owner cannot keep. Or be a holiday volunteer for GDogs, plenty of options availableto you.

Don't know where Cubley is, but you could look at Matties posts.  She is responsible for Lab rescue North West.

Cubley I think is in Derbyshire so it is sort of in the right area !

Try here www.helpalabrador.co.uk

Go to the contacts page and give one of the crew a ring.

Best of luck

Hi guys-

Hello guest- When you say that you want a 'trained' lab, so you mean one with basic manners, lead training etc, or do you mean gun dog trained.  If you want 'basic' pet trained, then you're best bet is probably a breed rescue as already suggested, but if you want a 'gun' dog, then you probably need to contact working kennels instead.
Let us all know how you get on and if you need any further help with anything, there are plenty of lab people on the board, as well as other experienced guys.
Good luck
Ali:)

Guide Dogs will only rehome the 'reject' dogs within a 10 mile radius of the main four centres, so if you are near to one of these you may be in luck, if you don;t mind a few years wait!  However, the temporary boarding scheme gives you the chance to board a dog on weekends and during the evenings for the dog's 12 week advanced training.  You may not get a lab, as the majority of the dogs are lab X GR.  Either way it's a lovely thing to do.
Probably the best idea is one of the Lab rescues, I'm sure there are lots of regional ones.
