Hi, I have recently bought a crate for my 16mth old boxer,Roxy. She is now quite happy when left and it is heaven coming home to a tidy house. The only thing is now she has started to wee in her crate. She is probably only left for 2 hours max and I always try to make sure she goes to the loo before putting her in the crate. One of the reasons for purchasing the crate was because she was messing in the house when left. Now she just does it in the crate. Any ideas please!

Would have thought a 16 month old bitch should be clean, is it just pee or is it poo or may be both. Think if it is pee I would be asking the vet to take a look at her, may be an infection or perhaps so slight malformation of the important bits. On the other hand she could be due a season and it is not that unusual for a bitch to have trouble at this time.

She is normally clean but has always weed and often pooed when left alone. It is only wee(so far) that she has done in her crate. She is actually in season at the moment so could this be why?  She will go through the night without any problems as long as she sleeps in either mine or my daughters room. It only seems to be when left alone.

Being in season is very probably the cause, but don't rule out an infection........

As one who requires a Tena Lady before going in the ring it could well be you bitch is worried by your going out. Have you tried a well stuffed Kong, and going for about 10 minuets and gradually extending the time to 2 hours if that's the problem.
