Thanks everyone for your reply especially Jackie for ringing... for me.

Anne-Marie,
The FPS is not with us yet i'm just trying to arm myself with as much as i can get to avoid the stress i had last year when i lost 10 out of 11 pups, after toiling for nights on end.
Right now i have 2 bitches that are pregnant.
Must the donor be their father? Must the plasma be from a male? How about if the donor had not had his Vaccination recently (say for the past 8 months)?
I will also appreciate if you can send the VETs numbers to me.

Cheers and compliments of the season.

Raphael.

Ideally the donar would be the father but to be honest my Bordeaux male donated to a litter of Neo pups and they had the same sucess with his plasma as his own babies did :-) Plasma can be from a dog or bitch but it is thought that the mother would not be a suitable donor as she maybe low on antibodies hence the pups getting sick in the first place.
It is better the more recent vaccinate only because there is a chance the antibodies are higher, and the higher the antibody level in the plasma the better chance of them fighting whatever virus is causing the FPS.
My vets is Swanbridge in Hull and their phone number is 01482 633888. Ask for John, Michelle or Fernando. They are all dab hands at the procedure :-) Even if you live too far to get there they will be prepared to give your vet detils of the procedure.
Hopefully all will go well this time for you and you will sail through it all with no problems.
Have a Great New Year and keep us posted how things go.

Hi,
Do a search for 'Fading Puppy Syndrome' or 'Plasma transfusions' - that should bring up the article. Good luck.
:)
