- By craig_2002 [gb] Date 07.01.04 13:17 UTC
Hi as i have mentioned on other parts of this board i have recently taken delivery of my boxer pup "paddy" he was one of 5 which came over from Limavady in northern Ireland on 20th December 2003, and i was wondering if any of the other "new owners" of the other puppies from the same litter used this board, as i would like to stay in touch to see how they turn out as well...........

anyone?.........

Cheers,

Craig

HI, thanks for replying,

No I couldn't get over there to visit them, but I had a mate working in the Army over there so he went and had a quick visit while he was in the area for me, basically it was in Ireland because the dog was for my parents and 14 year old brother, my mum had a boxer when she was a little girl and she had this picture of him, (light brindle with a white chest and white stripe on his nose), however her dog was killed when it was hit by a car and I knew how much she loved him because whenever she talked about getting another dog he would always crop up and how she had always loved boxers, so I cleared it with my dad, so that he was ok with having a dog and he thought it was a good idea, so I had been looking for about 6 months when I came across the dog which matched the discription closest, it just happened to be in Ireland, then I contacted them, got my mate to nip over make sure everything was all above board and contacted the kennel club to make sure they had been registered and find out whether or not they were registered as breeders and as I found everything to be in order, I agreed to buy the dog I had been looing for. Needless to say my mum and my brother were very happy with the new addition to the family and he is now settling in very well.

I hope this answers your question, but I did make sure that it was all above board and proper it was just unfortunate that the dog was ready on 20th december as everyone thinks that it was a christmas present and I get the age old line of "a dog is for life not just for christmas!" which is precisely why I started looking in may last year!!

Sorry if I've gone on a bit!!

Cheers,

Craig

Well it sounds as if this pup has a good home lots of luck with him can i say about feeding i would feed Burns complete the fish and brown rice is very good and the venison and rice i dont know what they do puppy in but it is a good food, for a puppy that age you will need to soften it with warm water let it soak and then feed him, also live yogurt once or twice aweek/ sardines/.

I have friends from UK that emigrated to Southern Ireland, they have Boxers.
:) But I don't know of anyone that has got a dog from Northern Ireland recently.

I feed my Boxers Nutro complete dog food and am very happy with their condition.
I have also fed Arden Grange and Burns.

I know some peoples dogs seem to do well on Burns but for mine and a couple of other
people's dogs it just wasn't right for them. Mine seem to go very dry and scurfy in coat
and one her nose went really dry and cracked. So I reverted back to Nutro and she's fine again.
However some people's dogs look great on it! So I'm a great believer in finding whats right for your
dog.
Boxers seem to do better on a wheat gluten free diet (which Burns/Nutro/Arden Grange have gluten free
varieties) as some can suffer from sensitive digestion probs, and the normal bad wind problems :D
Which thankfully mine don't unless they've had some 'rich' treats.......

Wish you the best of luck with your new family addition I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with him!
Kind Regards
Kirstine
