Topic Dog Boards / Health / weeing while walking

Hi
I'm not sure if this is a behaviour or health issue, but since I'm more concerned
about his health I'll post here.
My 3 month old pup has suddenly started weeing while walking, only outside
though, so he must have some control else he'd be doing it inside as well, and he hasn't
left a puddle in the house in maybe 2 weeks.
last night he left a zig zag 2 metre line as he started running off somewhere while weeing,
and he's also done it on 2 other occasions last night, but while walking off.

should I get him to a vet to monitor this for a while longer?
he appears to be in very good health otherwise

He obviously has a very busy schedule and doesn't have time to stand still for that long.  He's not a working breed by any chance is he?

yes he is a working breed Sally, a boerboel, they're the only registered south african breed,
and have been bred to be +80kg guard dogs mainly for farms, they were bred centuries
back when brittish and dutch settlers brought their mastiff's etc along, and registered some decades back.
but they also make awesome family dogs,
since they're so tolerant of kids little accidents, thanks to a high pain threshold I suppose.
strangely he's quite lazy, sleeps alot, never over eager for his walks, unlike my GSD pup who sleeps
alot less and naturaly has alot more energy.

LOL! my male staff is the same! he cant possibly take the time to stop when he starts off on his hikes!
My bitch is worse, she will actually, errmmm, poo on the run! lmao! I have learnt to be nimble on my feet!

Any concerns you may have are best checked by a vet - but are we talking about a puppy whose too interested in the world to stop to pee??  Or maybe he's getting side tracked 'mid stream'?

I don't know digger, like I said to Sally he's sooooo lazy, and hardly notices that someone passed
our house, while the GSD darts off and barks at them.

>Or maybe he's getting side tracked 'mid stream'?

I'll check tonight if there's some hidden agenda when it happens

>Any concerns you may have are best checked by a vet

absolutely, was just hoping this is fairly common behaviour I suppose

my 1 year old lab does the same thing.  He doesn't have time to stop there are far too many things to do when you go for a walk and stopping for a wee just wastes time! ha ha.  He half cocks his leg and does the rest whilst on the move because he hasn't got a second to spare!

ah thanks, thats exactly what I was hoping to hear, I'll still keep a close eye on him
just in case.

Mines the same, especially when he is doing a really long wee, he just gets too bored standing there i guess ;)
