I have been bitten by something.........not sure what though, I have had a bite like this before about three months ago. The 'bite' looks very much like a blister, underneath the blister once burst is like a deep crater that is so painfull the area around it swells, this lasts about 3/4 months as I said I have had this before and my last one is just healing, but they do leave a scar. Any ideas!!

No ideas, but I had something similar about 3/4 weeks ago on my forearm, it's only just healed up and has left a crater. Initially was a raised red circle around 1cm in diameter with a large raised fluid filled blister in the middle, mildly itchy - sound familiar? Both dogs had recently been Stongholded, nobody else in the house affected (hubby and 3 sons)

Not used Stronghold - but the pain is really quite bad after the blister has burst, the last one I had it was so painfull I could hardly walk(I have only ever had them on my ankle area or just above). I am the only one to have had them in the household. If this one turns out as bad as the last I will have to go to the Doctors to get something for the pain etc.
It's a mystery!

Maybe you should just go to the doctors anyway just to find out what it is. They may be able to give you some ointment (sp??) before it gets to bad!

If you find out what it is, let me know!
My husband occasionally gets these on the back of one of his hands (only ever the one hand), one every couple of years or so. At first it starts as a flat red mark, then lots of tiny blisters which combine to form one large one. It lasts for ages, and, as you say, leaves a crater when it's gone. The doctor was baffled, because it isn't a bite, and he hadn't splashed chemicals on himself at work, or burnt himself, or anything like that.
Very strange. We now refer to it as his 'anthrax'.

Urrrr - you must have read the urban myth about the spider that hides in bananas that we buy in Safeways. It bites, lays eggs in the skin, causes a blister etc etc. 2 months time small spiders will appear! Seriously, if you've been abroad recently see your doctor immediately. There are horrid things out there that cause lots of illnesses. Speaking from experience!

Abroad....where's that...we've not had a holiday for years!! Seriously though, I take onboard what you said, but do think it might be unlikely, thanks for info though.
Will keep you infomed.

This is interesting, my hubby gets these, the doctor didn't have a clue what it was :( and as you say they last for ages and are very painful. I would love to know what they are and how best to treat. We haven't travelled abroad for 17 years so it would have to have been something from this country. Touch wood he hasn't had one for over a year, but they are like that - they come and go....
