My standard Poodle appears to be molting, this is not usually and I was wondering what could be causing it.

Possibly a skin problem.  Does the skin look red or sore, is he scratching a lot?

Monty is 6 at the present moment

Sebaceous Adenitis

This is what I was afraid of as His Sire was a possible carryier, but I did not find out and sometime after I had purchased him.

His Half Brother also has it.

Then I would get him tested at the vet as soon as possible. Are you in the UK?

Definately get him tested quickly and if it is mange or similar, he can start treatment quickly.

How old is your Poodle? There is a problem with Standard Poodles called Sebaceous Adenitis or SA which causes the hair to fall out. Best get to your vet asap.
