Topic Dog Boards / General / what should my answer be?

Tonight is my 1st class with my boxer pup, and i have been told that people may tell me the pup is no good or pick out his faults, so i might have to listen to critical comments about my baby and i don't know how to handle it, what should i say if someone does say something? any tips on being tactful? :)

Ah well....If you want to be tactful.. you could just throw your coffee over them.....But if you want the direct approach...:D

Take no notice, if anyone does say anything unkind just remember they will only be jealous :)

What type of class/club are you going too?? there is no way any one would say any thing rude about any ones dog at my training club

its a ringcraft class, never been to one before so just going on hearsay really :)

I'd be pleased to hear how you get on.  I'm trying to register Copper in a class but I've learned he needs behaviour training first as he's not dog happy.  He's so perfect in all other respects except four legs and tails.  I'll let you know how WE get on!!

Hi Jacki

I was only joking :)

No-one should say anything nasty or even remotely unkind to you. Never had it happen at any classes I've been to :) You should get nothing but help and assistance.

Have a good time but remember everyone is not an expert on Boxers including Boxer judges, so ask and listen yes but read the standard for yourself and try by looking at yours and other dogs to understand it. Ask questions if you are confused and don't take any notice of someone who can find no good points in anyone else's dog, they all have good points as well as bad, no dog is perfect it is just that some have more faults than others.
