I am looking for a dog but not sure what breed to get i have a young family so the dog needs to be good with children we have a medium back garden and would be able to take the dog out for short walks a dog that doesn't malt would also be helpful but grooming would not be a problem am i asking for to much i was thinking about a bichon/yorkie but cannot find a breeder and have been told you have to be careful with cross breeding

any suggestions would be great

Try www.petplanet.co.uk they have a survey so you could work out what would be good for you.

hope this helps

Thought you wanted a bichon/yorkie have you changed your mind?

No i would love a bichon/yorkie but i thought you said that no one who cared about their dogs would deliberatley cross breed them so i am taking from that there may be some kind of problem do you think there would be?

The thing is people do not cross breed deliberately, well people who care for their breeds don't. And if you breed 2 different breeds together you would not know what the adult dog would look like, some would be mostly one thing and some the other and the again some may be like neither.

So I am glad you have changed your mind why not go for one or the other, they are very different the one being larger and requiring much more grooming.

Why not consider a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel? they make lovely family dogs.

I agree with with Snoopy. A Cav. sounds perfect for you, nut make sure you buy from a reputable breeder.

Why don't you have a look round your nearest rescue home? because they will have a lot of dogs in who need good, loving homes
