Well
it depends purely on what food you are feeding pup as there is a wide price range.
Have you not looked into this beforehand ? What food will your breeder be feeding pup on and we may be able to offer more of an idea?

ok thnx, i think the breeder is planning on feeding the pup with pedigree, puppy variety, i will probably want to feed it on the same, as i have heard a lot of good things about this type of food.

It's best to keep to the same food for a bit when you get the puppy, as everything is going to be strange to him - new home, new owners, no litter-mates, so you don't want an upset tummy as well!  When I got my pup he would barely eat for the first couple of days, then came right, though in his case the food that the breeder recommended gave him the runs, so I had no choice but to change after a couple of weeks.  As to price, there is such a wide variety - I can get a bag of working dog food for £7, and a bag of something else for £40.  I think the best thing you can do is read the ingredients - some have a high cereal content, some have a higher meat content, etc.

You tend to get what you pay for, so I'd look into the dietry requirements, talk to the breeder and other owners and do a search on here for 'complete' foods if that is what you are going to use.

I could keep my dogs alive on very little cash a week but prefer to give them the best I can afford while keepin it good quality too.

Hope that makes sense :)

Morning,

We brought bruno up on pegeree puppy and small bite mixer  3 meals a day 1/3 of a tin a meal, this was from 8 weeks till 12 weeks, after that we used a few remaining tins of pedegree puppy mixed with pedegree adult , he is currently 16 weeks eats 3 meals a day of half a tin of pedegree adult each meal and bakers complete dry food is left for him throught the day. 12 tins of adult pegeree is £5.08  a 6 kg bag of bakers complete is about £6.00 cant remeber price for puppy food but it was a little expensive i thought, after speaking to the vet who advised we move to adult food they pointed out that the puppy food is basicaly the adult food with more water and less meat content so if you wish use adult food add some water and bobs your granny  or mix a tin of puppy with a tim of adult in the blender and seperate into meals should get 6 meals out of it / 2 days

He loves a helping of mince and dumplings since he was 10 weeks :-)
