Keri is 20 months, loving, adorable but very, very nervous. She gives off a very unpleasant scent when something frightens her. She has always been nervous but as she is getting more mature she seems to be more relaxed. However, in the last 2 days she has been giving off a similar scent but it seems to be with a slight browny/watery discharge and the smell is unbearable. This has been happening when she is totally relaxed so I don't know if it's connected to the normal nervous scent or something more serious. She has come into season twice, the last time being November. I will of course take her to the vet, if it continues, but would like to know if anyone has ever come accross this before or know what it may be that's causing this.

I think you'll find she's evacuating her anal glands - it's a natural reaction for a nervous dog, but the fact that she is now leaving small amounts of this foul smelling stuff around the place may indicate that the glands are over full and need relieving - the best way is to take her to the vets, where they may have a Vet nurse who will be happy to help you, she may even show you how to do this yourself infuture if you feel capable.....
