Topic Dog Boards / General / update on Elsa/KC saga!

Hello, everyone!
To all that remember, I had Elsa the BT before christmas, we hadn't paid and hadn't heard anything about her KC reg since, WELL! I have just got off the phone from the 'breeder' who had trouble getting the KC papers because he hadn't registered the dam in his name with the KC, apparently (it's all dutch to me!) so had to do this first before they would register the pups, so he has the 'three generation pedigree' ( confusing me again, but I'm just about clever enough to work that one out ;) ) and should receive the 'papers' in a day or two, so it's a hoorah for getting it sorted, and a boo! coz we thought we'd got a free puppy! ;)

p.s Jayne, is it ok to contact you for info about the pedigree when it comes through, as I don't think the breeder really knoiws much about it, he's given her the kennel name 'whispering lady!' but she certainly never 'whispers' in my company!

Hi Emily

Whilst it is good news that the papers should be on there way soon, the bit about the dam not being in the correct name does ring true, I would be slightly concerned about his comment re the three generation pedigree.

A pedigree is just a list of information regarding parentage. A mongrel can have a 'pedigree' in as much as information known allows imagine....

Too often people are happy with a pedigree (and hold to great a store by one) when really they want the registration papers. He should know the three generation pedigree and one would hope he had taken it into consideration before breeding

Hope you do get them and it's worth the £'s :p but really by now I expect you love your girl to bits, as it should be

You are very welcome to e-mail me privately when you received your pups paperwork and I'll try to give you all the information I can.

It is not unusual for novice breeders to forget they have to transfer the bitch into their name before registering any puppies. I have a number of people who have arrived here for matings with everything I have asked for including papers, but the bitch is still registered in the name of her breeder.
A lot of people don't ever think of doing the transfers after buying a new pup. I hate to think how many BT's are still registered in my name with the KC.

If your Elsa ever whispers she'll be a very unusual BT, mine only have two buttons either very noisy or asleep. lol

At least half the pups I have bred are still officially in my name! That is quite a few as I have bred 7 litters since my first 7 years ago!
