Why should we buy a labrador, what makes them good family pets, whats the price of a pedigree nowadays, have they been known to eat children

They only eat one child at a sitting; their stomach is too small for two!

If you are not sure about having a Labrador then my advice is to give it a lot more thought. Any breed you get is going to be around for hopefully many years so you have to be very sure. Why were you thinking about a Lab? Is it because of its reputation for being easy going? If so I feel I should add that some have been known to lunch on the house! My youngest ate the kitchen floor when she was younger and a friend's chewed a brick out of the wall! Again, they are big strong dogs and without training can make taking for a walk a nightmare!

Labradors also like to dig big holes in the garden, eat all the plants and roll in anything smelly, especially fox poo!!!!!!!!!
But apart from that they are wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never had a dog B4 and recently got a Lab puppy ( we've had her for 6 months and she's 8 months old) The breeder we got her from came for dinner on Sat and asked us if we had any regrets. I said my only regret was that we had been without a dog for so long. I don't know if we are just lucky, but she is an absolute joy. I can't imagine a better dog. Having said that we thought long and hard about getting a dog and we live in the middle of the country and she gets LOTS of walks, rides in the car and swims in the river. (She does dig holes in the garden and roll in fox poo though :-) )
PS she has never made any attempt to supplement her diet with my offspring - despite them rolling round on the floor with her and kissing her at every opportunity.
Im a helper for Lab rescue and also own a Labrador (Rescue) and find them a wonderful breed.
I would say a Lab is a good family pet but they do need training to become a good pet as do all breeds.
