My 12 week puppy has been on ND since he was 8 weeks old, he loves it, and is doing very well on it, I still give him a milky feed at night though, both my adults are on it too and since being on it have got back to their correct weights and are even healthier than before.  One word of advice though, I found the feeding guidelines greatly overestimated the amount of ND needed for all my dogs

Found naturediet superb - but agree VERY much with Hayley, I was feeding double what my pup needed. I went from complete to 1/2 complete 1/2 naturediet pupp and now at 7 1/2 months am on naturediet adult and dog is thriving and LOVES it.

It is in the interests of all commercial food manufacturer's to recommend amounts that would mean more frequent buying :D

The best way to gauge whether or not you are feeding the correct amount for YOUR individual dog is to ignore the labels and look at and feel your dog.  If you cannot feel its ribs easily with the flat of your hand and it is probably carrying too much weight; just like most of us :D  The correct amount for your dog will vary over the year depending on sex, exercise, time of year etc etc.

People usually say that the recommended amounts on dog food is actually too much, but when my dog was on just the Naturediet, he was needing a lot more than what they recommended for his weight.  As I think it's one of the best foods, I didn't want to stop giving it to him, but he now has dried food with it as well, so half and half, and he is now the right weight.

I suppose you must also take into consideration the dogs exercise level and their individual metabolism.  I can eat all the goodies I like, but my Mum only has to look at them to put on a few pounds!

Naturediet feeding guidelines are for "small", "medium" and "large" breeds.  That covers a lot of ground in each category!

I feed my "small" dog (a Cairn) slightly less than the recommended amount because she gets other food (table scraps and some dog treats).

I believe that manufacturer's recommendations assume no other food will be given to the dog - which is not the case for most house dogs.

Im finding that Becks wolfs down his Nature diet and is looking for more but he is having the best part of a pack every day, is he just greedy?  He doesnt look underweight, if anything he is abit tubby.

Struth - That's as much as some of my collies get.  Definately enough for a westie.

That is a lot of food for a little dog :D  I should cut down;  dogs have a natural instinct to gorge because nature has designed them to do this in case food should be scarce.  You know that you are going to feed him every day; he does not! :)

All my dogs are permanently hungry, does not mean that they NEED more food.  I don't NEED chocolate, but I never refuse :D

thanx for all replies. both pups love to eat now. i mix it half and half with autarky and it's a great relief to see them eating after weeks of refusing the food the breeder gave me. these are the first collie pups we've had that have been fussy.
