At midnight New Year's Eve my mother-in-laws bitch gave birth to 7 pups.  Unfortunately one was still born and one died during the night.  However when we arrived New Year's day mum and remaining 5 pups are doing very well.  Fly loves being a mum and is very good.  As usual Fly picks her moment.  Her last litter she decided to have just 1 week before my inlaws went on holiday for 2 weeks and now she has decided to have this litter 2 days before my inlaws go away for the weekend.  I have been roped in to looking after her again which I love doing and my kids are looking forward to it too!

Hope everybody had a really good Xmas and New Year.

Is this post for real????????????

Fly does not pick her moments, her owners do.  If they are selfish and inconsiderate enough to let her have puppies and then book holidays they do not IMO deserve to own a dog.

Were these puppies planned or did they happen to be away when she was in season as well?

Disgusted

My inlaws had already booked their holidays!  They book them 6 months in advance.  Did you get out of bed on the wrong side this morning?!

My inlaws live on a farm and work all day.  Both parents are working dogs.  Fly's litters have been early on both occassions!  At least they have someone who is willing to look after them while they go away and not just left to fend for themselves.  If that was the case THEN I would agree that you would have something to be disgusted about but at this moment in time I do not see what you are getting in a flap about?

well I think that's lovely news.
New babies on New Years day.
well done Fly & as long as they've made arrangements for the litter to be cared for while they're away & sounds like you are prepared to look after them during this time - I don't see a problem.

enjoy the pups.

Sorry Naomi but a good breeder doesn't have a bitch in whelp if they have a holiday or a few days away planned that far in advance.  My grandparents worked a farm but never had a holiday during their busiest times with the livestock and of course their dogs - poor planning is what we are getting disgusted about!

If they have their holidays booked 6 months in advance even more reason not to allow their bitch to get pregnant when they know they are likely to be away

No, I did not get out of bed on the wrong side, just showing my disgust at such irresponsible dog ownership

had you agreed in advance to care for the pups and mum naomi??. you say *roped in*. but if plans had been made i cant see what the fuss is. and *irresponsible dog ownership* is putting it a bit strong dont you think?. anyway good luck!.
