Hi, I am looking for a bullmastiff and I was wondering if this is the right breed for me.  I have 2 elderly persons living in my home and have frequent visits from young children, however, I am looking for a dog that will have the patience and gentleness to cope with children and the elderly and at the same time keep a watchful eye over them and if need be, protect the elderly living in my home when out for walks.  I have thought about a bullmastiff, but was put off by their sheer size.  I am 16 years old and believe I have the necessary willpower to control such a dog.
I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me whether a bullmastiff is a wise choice for my household.

Thanks,

Are you in this country if so i think i am right in saying that you would not be by law able to walk this dog in public? and you would not be able to control one when adult (males) also Bullmastiffs can be over the top and older people would find them to much to cope with,as much as i love this breed and i do own this breed some can be hard to handle, you would need to take it to training classes,if you do go for this breed please make sure you buy from some one that knows and understands the breed well.
