milo is a 2yr old dog & my wife & i wish to stud him next yr (2004).He has just had his yearly booster and the vet said he is in tip top condition and sees no reason why he cannot be put to stud. The only problem is that he is not a full pedigree, the dog was but the bitch was not. If anybody could provide information on a bitch that we could stud him with we would be grateful and thankyou in advance. Please contact us at

Look I am sorry but your dog may be very nice but there are hundreds of well breed health tested quality Lab Stud dogs out there, so why on earth would someone want to let your crossbreed near their purebred Lab. And if you were intending to breed a mongrel well I would suggest you visit a local rescue before you go adding to the numbers.
Is it because you want one of his puppies? I can't really think of any other reason, as you can't sell the puppies as pedigrees. Like Jackie says, the rescue centres are full of crossbreeds, and our local rescue centre has also got several pedigree dogs looking for homes. My own dog is a beautiful dog, also in tip top condition (yes Jackie, his coat is growing back in fast!), but I would never consider wanting to breed from him just because of that (and he's pedigree!). I do want another puppy, but will be buying one from a reputable breeder. And I also have a rescue dog!

Hi Guest,
If your lab isn't purebred, KC registered, hip-scored and eye-tested, nobody is going to want to let him anywhere near their bitch! I'm sure he's lovely, but he is not stud material. Sorry.
Hi Guest
What else did your vet say and what exactly was your question when you asked about breeding him?

PLEASE...if you want a puppy, buy one, and if you want to breed, buy a good quality pedigree puppy. Tell the breeder of your new puppy that you want to breed and make sure he/she will be there to help you when the time is right. The time will be right when your new puppy has done some winning at shows, and the breeder should help you to pick a puppy worthy of breeding and showing.
